Government Grants and Funding
In India, the government offers grants and funding opportunities to innovative startups to help them expand their presence and bring unique products or services to the market. A grant is a transfer payment that does not include technical assistance or other financial aid, such as a loan or guarantee, interest rate subsidy, direct appropriation, or revenue sharing. The recipient of the grant is not required to repay the money, but they are expected to use the funds for their intended purpose, which often contributes to a greater good.
In some cases, there may be revenue-sharing agreements with the government, such as when a discovery results in a patent that generates profit.
Every year, over 1,000 grant programs are administered by 26 federal agencies to fund the arts, sciences, and educational institutions. Grants and funding from the government help finance ideas and projects that provide public services and stimulate the economy. They also support crucial recovery initiatives, innovative research, and agricultural projects in various fields.
